CHAMPAIGN, Ill.新蒲崗迷你倉, Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ameren Illinois today opened a new $3.3 million testing facility that will help facilitate research and development of smart grid technologies and support the state's economic development and job creation goals. The Technology Applications Center (TAC) will provide small businesses and entrepreneurs with the infrastructure and resources needed to test programs, technologies, business models and other smart grid-related energy improvements on a live grid. The TAC is a key component of the Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act (EIMA) passed by the General Assembly in 2011. Under EIMA, Ameren Illinois is investing an additional $643 million over 10 years, through its Modernization Action Plan, or MAP, to make improvements to the electric grid to make it more efficient and reliable and to create hundreds of new jobs."The TAC will give promising businesses and entrepreneurs access to an on-grid testing facility to help take their innovations to the next level," said Richard Mark, president and CEO, Ameren Illinois. "We must continue to foster an environment of innovation if Illinois is to remain economically competitive and able to create jobs in the 21st century economy."Located west of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Research Park, the TAC also provides an opportunity for Ameren Illinois and the university to jointly research smart grid-related technologies and collaborate on testing and validation procedures, as well as test plan development. The facility will provide an on-grid test environment that complements the university's off-grid testing and simulation capabilities. The collaboration will be further enhanced by a fiberoptic link between the TAC and the UI power lab, which supports a number of grid research activities."Academic-industry partnerships such as what we have with Ameren are essential to ensure that leading-edge research addresses key sector needs, and is adopted by utilities," said Professor William Sanders, interim head of the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) who heads the largest of the UI smart grid research projects. "In this way, we jointly promote the development of a smart grid that is resilient, accommodates innovation, and ensures a sustainable energy future."The TAC features a substation and two distribution circuit feeders that will enable developers to test smart grid-related equipment by connecting to 69,000-and 12,000-volt systems on the utility's energy distribution network. The facility can accommodate both utility-scale testing as well as residential products testing, which will inmini storagelude a simulated working kitchen with smart grid-enabled appliances as well as advanced meters which can be used to test smart grid-related devices. Ameren Illinois opened a secondary testing site in Decatur in 2012 that provides companies access to larger utility system loads to perform equipment and systems testing."We live in a technologically advanced world where people are connected like never before. Ameren Illinois' commitment to build a smarter grid will help ensure that wherever and whenever power is needed, our system will be ready," Mark said.Under EIMA, Ameren Illinois has also provided $7.5 million in seed money for Illinois business startups. The funds will be administered by the Energy Foundry, a non-profit funded by shareholder investments from Ameren Illinois and Commonwealth Edison, created to boost an understanding of smart grid in Illinois and to invest in and nurture startups with high-growth potential in the energy field."The Technology Applications Center is an excellent platform that will open the door for great innovations to turn into great businesses," said Jason Blumberg, CEO and managing director of Energy Foundry. "Ameren Illinois' cross-cutting test capabilities are impressive and Energy Foundry is excited to be a part of this unique commercialization initiative."About Ameren Illinois Ameren Illinois delivers energy to 1.2 million electric and 806,000 natural gas customers in Illinois, and our mission is to meet their energy needs in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. Annells denies reportsof investigationsWe see that Hong Kong-based tax consultant Deborah Annells, in an updated statement on her company website, claims that “contrary to recent reports in the Hong Kong media” her professional conduct is not being investigated by Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), nor by the British business association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).新蒲崗迷你倉Annells, it will be recalled, is the founder and managing director of AzureTax, and was last month found to have committed six instances of dishonesty by the disciplinary tribunal of Britain’s Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and was expelled. We reported recently that both these organisations had started preliminary enquiries to see if she had a case to answer. If they find there is a case they then commence a disciplinary investigation. STEP will conclude its initial investigation in early September, while the HKICPA is understood to be holding a Professional Conduct Committee meeting next month which will consider her case.In her latest statement she implies that her staff was at fault for “some actions “which were not in accordance with client instructions”.She claims that: “We have reviewed and overhauled all our internal procedures to ensure similar situations will not reoccur.”However, the CIOT findings clearly relate to her personal dishonesty in her use of trust funds. Furthermore, two of the six charges in which she was found to have acted dishonestly include submitting “two applications to add an Azure service company as a bank signatory to a client company’s bank account without the knowledge of their owners”.Annells denies she acted dishonestly. In her updated website statement she also says that: “Importantly not a single client lost any money as a result of what happened.”In the case of the complaint to the CIOT this is true, but only because Annells was sued by her client. One piece of information Annells does not include in her recent statement is that she is still on police bail having been arrested in Decmini storagember 2011, though not yet charged. Not looking so brightA recent piece in the Financial News, which is published by the People’s Bank of China, about Tang Shuangning, has had people scratching their heads in puzzlement.Tang is chairman of the China Everbright Group, which has been in the news recently for the trading chaos it inflicted on the Shanghai Stock Exchange last week by its securities arm, and the third attempt by China Everbright Bank to list on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Also it has emerged that Everbright is embroiled in a US Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into whether JP Morgan hired the children of powerful mainland officials to win lucrative deals in the mainland. One of the hirings included Tang’s son who once worked for JP Morgan’s Hong Kong office. However, these issues were eerily avoided by Financial News which instead waxed lyrically about Tang’s expert knowledge of ancient Chinese texts and poems and his expertise in calligraphy. The takeaway from his appearance in this official publication appears to be that despite the troubles besetting China Everbright Group, Tang is okay.Great British baby eventThe British consulate has wasted little time in cashing in on the recent birth of the royal baby who rejoices in the title of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. His Royal Highness will be one month old today and the consulate-general is hosting the Great British Baby Event.”This is not as the title might suggest an invitation for British babies to assemble at the consulate, but rather as it says in a statement: “We will be exclusively showcasing the best of British baby products from UK companies and Hong Kong retailers.”This we are told is “a must for those who are interested in what His New Royal Highness and babies of celebrities are wearing and using, and for mothers on the lookout for new innovative baby products”.Some of the “highlights” include the baby oil used by the Duchess of Cambridge, and a brand of baby paraphernalia which is popular with no less than David Beckham. A must-see event.self storage

The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Tenn., Chrystal B. Talbott column
Source: The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Tenn.迷你倉新蒲崗Aug. 20--With the majority of area kids back at school, I got to thinking about those long hot summer days I used to spend at the pool as a child, not giving a thought to how fast the summer was slipping by or how soon school would be back in session. With the swimming pool season almost over I started digging around and found that Knoxville has a long history of swimming pools.Whittle SpringsThe oldest swimming pool in Knoxville that I could find is the Whittle Springs swimming pool that was built and owned by the Whittle Springs Hotel. The swimming pool opened to the public on Aug. 2, 1919. An Aug. 4 Journal and Tribune article stated the concrete swimming pool erected at Whittle Springs was 180 feet long and 80 feet wide with the adult area being 3 1/2 feet to 11 feet deep and the children's area being one to three feet deep with the two areas separated by an iron fence. The pool closed in the 1960s. It was located on Whittle Spring Road about where the parking lot for Northgate Terrace Apartments' parking is located.Inskip PoolAccording to an Aug. 15, 1965, News-Sentinel article, the first community or neighborhood-owned pool in Knoxville is believed to be the Inskip Lions Club pool that was built in 1959 on a six-acre tract of land near the intersection of Bruhin and Dutch Valley Roads. The city of Knoxville bought the Inskip Lions Club Community Park in the mid-1970s, which included the swimming pool. Inskip pool is still operated as a public city pool.6th Avenue Pool/Municipal PoolThe 6th Avenue pool was owned by the Knoxville Utilities Board and was built during World War II as a reservoir. KUB let the city of Knoxville develop it into a swimming pool after the war.The pool was closed in 1965 because of the construction debris from building the new Interstate 40. The 185- by 200-foot pool was finally filled in with dirt in l迷你倉出租te 1969.Riverside PoolRiverside or Giffin Riverside pool was located on Island Home Avenue and built in 1944. In 1965, the city of Knoxville began leasing the privately owned pool as a public pool because of the closure of the 6th Avenue pool. Riverside pool was closed in 1976 after a chlorine tank explosion.Leslie Street Park Pool/Edward Cothren PoolIn June 1946, the city's black-only Leslie Street Park pool was renamed Edward Cothren Municipal Pool. It was renamed to honor First Lt. Edward F. Cothren Jr., the first black Knoxville soldier to be killed in action in World War II. Lt. Cothren was 24 years old and had only been overseas four months when he was killed in October 1944. He was a graduate of Austin High School and Knoxville College.A 1965 News-Sentinel article says that all public city and county pools were desegregated by August of that year. The old pool was located on Ambrister Ave., off West View Ave., which is now News Sentinel Drive. A new Edward Cothren Pool opened in 1995 at Malcolm Martin Park off Western Avenue and is still active.Carl Cowan Park and Swimming PoolCarl Cowan Park and Swimming Pool was the county's black-only park and swimming pool. The park was opened about 1949 off Northshore Drive, while the pool opened in May 1959.A 2012 News Sentinel article reads that the West Knox County park was built in 1949 and dedicated to Carl Cowan, who was born in Knoxville in 1902, graduated from Knoxville College and began practicing law in the city in 1932. He was instrumental in the desegregation of local schools. The public pool is still open today.---Public pools close after Labor Day weekend. ZTE expects profit pickup after let-down in first half
Telecoms equipment maker posts 26.新蒲崗迷你倉6 per cent lower-than-expected gain to 310 million yuanZTE, the world’s fifth-largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, forecast improved profitability in the second half of the year after reporting lower-than-expected earnings in the six months to June.In a filing with the Hong Kong stock exchange last night, Shenzhen-based ZTE said it would post a net profit of between 500 million yuan (HK$633 million) and 750 million yuan for the nine months to September, rebounding from a 1.7 billion yuan loss in the same period last year. The company said the turnaround was being made on the back of improved gross profit margins and strict cost controls. It reported a 26.6 per cent increase in net profit to 310 million yuan for the first half on cost controls and greater efficiency. It also recognised a substantial gain from the disposal of interests in a subsidiary, surveillance equipment maker Shenzhen ZNV Technology.Revenue fell 11.9 per cent to 37.58 billion yuan as demand for 2G and 3G network products on the mainland decreased.Ricky Lai, a research analyst at Guotai Junan International, said foreign exchange losses also contributed to first-half results falling below expectations.Still, Lai said ZTE would be “one of the beneficiaries of the mainland’s deployment of 4G networmini storages and the central government’s mandate to speed up development of the country’s fixed-line broadband network”.He expected ZTE’s smartphone business to gain from robust demand on the mainland, the world’s biggest market for the devices.Bernstein Research, however, predicted “no upside for ZTE” from either its core telecommunications network equipment business or the smartphone market. In a research note, senior analyst Pierre Ferragu said: “Scale will remain a structural issue limiting profitability and putting stress on the [company’s] balance sheet.“With 80 per cent of the [global wireless network] market concentrated in players at least twice larger, ZTE cannot bet on its Chinese cost base to make up for its lack of scale.”Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Nokia Solutions and Networks, and Alcatel-Lucent lead the market for wireless infrastructure.Bernstein’s report said China Mobile’s rollout of more than 200,000 TD-LTE-standard 4G base stations across the mainland was an opportunity that was “not big enough” for ZTE, either for the second half of this year or next year. It was offset by decreased spending on 2G and 3G networks on the mainland, and ZTE favouring higher margins over revenue growth. In the global smartphone market, price competition between Huawei and ZTE “has wiped out all margins”, Ferragu said.self storage

Juan Francisco gets needed off day
Source: Milwaukee Journal SentinelAug.新蒲崗迷你倉 21--After not putting a ball into play since his final at-bat Saturday, it came as no surprise to see first baseman JuanFrancisco out of the lineup Tuesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers hosted the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park.On Monday, Francisco became the third major-league player this season to post consecutive four-strikeout games, joining former Brewer PrinceFielder of the Detroit Tigers (April 16-17) and SethSmith of the Oakland A's (May 1-3). That led manager RonRoenicke to give recently recalled SeanHalton the start at first base.Might Francisco need more than one day to clear his head and get back on track?"Good question," Roenicke said. "I'll just kind of watch how today goes. I talked to him earlier and he's fine. It gets to you after a while, and I think it got to him the last couple days."If I think he just needs one day I'll get him back in there tomorrow, and I'll try to look at matchups too and see if I can help him that way."Francisco actually had a productive recent trip, doubling four times, homering three times -- including twice in a game in Texas -- and driving in seven runs. But since returning home Aug. 15 he has gone 1 for 17 with 13 strikeouts and one homer over five starts. On the season, the left-handed Francisco is hitting .240 with 18 homers and 46 RBI. He's hitting .239 with 13 homers and 30 RBI in 61 games with the Brewers (52 starts). He's also struck out 117 times in 328 plate appearances but also has collected a career-high 28 walks to keep his on-base percentage at an acceptable .308.The Brewers acquired him in a trade with the Atlanta Braves on June 3 knowing his propensity for striking out, but also interested in seeing if they could take advantage of his prodigious power."Yeah, it has been (strange)," said Roenicke. "He was doing really well, too. Having some good at-bats and walking a couple times. Then he has those two days. Those are hard."The Brewers have started seven players at first base, and Roenicke was asked about the possibility of HunterMorris becoming the eighth when teams can expand their rosters beginning Sept. 1.Morris is hitting just .231 for Class AAA Nashville but ranks second in the Pacific Coast League with 22 homers."I can't say that," Roenicke said. "We talk about all these guys all the time. We really haven't gotten too much into the call-ups yet. I'm sure here in the next week we'll probably start to talk about it."But most of the guys that we've been talking about are here with the exception of maybe a couple pitchers -- a (Johnny) Hellweg or somebody like that."And in case you were wondering, RickAnkiel set the major-league record for strikeouts in consecutive plate appearances and at-bats by a position player with 10 from April 2-8 earlier this season while he was with the Houston Astros.Keeping focus: When he signed with the Brewers toward the end of spring training, KyleLohse expressed excitement about the frequent opportunities to pitch against the Cardinals, for whom he was a mainstay from 2008-'12.Lohse made his fourth start of the season Tuesday against the Cardinals, but not sporting the numbers he'd have preferred. He came in with an 0-3 record and a 5.00 earned-run average over 18 innings. The last time he'd faced the Cardinals, on May 19 in St. Louis, he even got into it verbally with former teammate YadierMolina and Cardinals third-base coach JoseOquendo, although he wouldn't divulge at the time what the confrontations were about."He got out of his game a little bit there," said Roenicke. "As much as he's a veteran and I like him -- he's a competitor -- emotions come into play."Roenicke said that's only natural when facing your former team."There can be a lot of anxiety, like there was the first time he faced them," said Roenicke. "He didn't pitch close to the same. I think there's going to be some of that again; I'm just hoping that he can get some of that under control and be able to go out there and make his pitches."That's why sometimes -- you guys have asked -- I'll put in a player that has played for another team, because there's a different concentration level when you really want to do well against somebody you were with before. You would think they should be able to do that all the time; you can't."I know how I felt when I was with a team and I came back to face them, it was a little bit different. It's almost the same for an offensive player, when they intentionally walk a guy in front of you to get to you. It's that kind of concentration, 'OK, you want to walk him to get to me? I'll show you.'"Lohse improved his record to 9-8 with six strong innings in a 6-3 Brewers victory. After not putting a ball into play since his final at-bat Saturday, it came as no surprise to see first baseman JuanFrancisco out of the lineup Tuesday night as the Milwaukee Brewers hosted the St. I'm sure here in the next weemini storage we'll probably start to talk about it."But most of the guys that we've been talking about are here with the exception of maybe a couple pitchers -- a (Johnny) Hellweg or somebody like that."And in case you were wondering, RickAnkiel set the major-league record for strikeouts in consecutive plate appearances and at-bats by a position player with 10 from April 2-8 earlier this season while he was with the Houston Astros.Keeping focus: When he signed with the Brewers toward the end of spring training, KyleLohse expressed excitement about the frequent opportunities to pitch against the Cardinals, for whom he was a mainstay from 2008-'12.Lohse made his fourth start of the season Tuesday against the Cardinals, but not sporting the numbers he'd have preferred.
