The Global Times newspaper has hit out at an advertisement calling on Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying to step down.儲存倉 The tabloid, owned by state organ People's Daily, described the ad placed in Hong Kong and Taiwan newspapers as ``naive,'' and asked what the SAR would be like if mainlanders stopped coming here. A commentary said the adverts will have ``zero'' influence on the appointment of chief executives. ``If mainland people no longer visit Hong Kong and shop in Hong Kong shops, what will be the impact on Hong 迷你倉價錢ong's economy?'' it asked. The commentary came after 300 locals added their signatures calling on Leung to step down. The advert accused Leung of ``mainlandizing'' Hong Kong, and warned Taiwan against opening up to cross-strait tourism. Roy Tam Hoi-pong, who helped organize the advertising campaign, said: ``I think that it is useful for us to publish the ad in Taiwan and Hong Kong, as we want to raise our concerns that the SAR government has no say in many policies such as the individual travel scheme.''
