Source: The News-Gazette, Champaign-Urbana, Ill.自存倉Oct. 11--CHAMPAIGN _ Southwest Champaign will once again get an Ace Hardware store.Niemann Foods, which operates the County Market store at Duncan Road and Kirby Avenue, plans to expand the adjacent Pet Supplies Plus store and add a 10,000-square-foot Ace Hardware to the east, company spokesman Gerry Kettler said.The new hardware store is expected to open next spring, with the pet supplies store expansion to be completed about the same time, he said.It's the second pairing of County Market and Ace Hardware announced for the Champaign market. Last December, Niemann Foods said it would build a new County Market and Ace Hardware on the soon-to-be-redeveloped Carriage Center site on South Neil Street in Champaign, about 2{ miles east of the Duncan-and-Kirby site.Kettler said locating Ace Hardware alongside County Market makes a good combination for consumers who need to make a quick trip for 迷你倉ools and household supplies.An Ace Hardware store _ not operated by Niemann Foods _ was located at Village at the Crossing in southwest Champaign from 2006 to 2009. Since it closed, there has been no Ace Hardware in Champaign.The expansion project at Duncan and Kirby is expected to cost about $950,000, according to a building permit issued by the city of Champaign.Kettler, director of consumer affairs for Quincy-based Niemann Foods, said the company operates six other Ace Hardware stores _ in the Illinois communities of Rantoul, Charleston, Pekin and Farmington, as well as in Keokuk, Iowa, and Palmyra, Mo.Niemann Foods operates six Pet Supplies Plus stores.
