Source: Daily Camera, Boulder, Colo.儲存倉Sept. 04--A Boulder judge denied a request by Sam Carter -- the officer accused of shooting a trophy elk in the Mapleton Hill area on New Year's Day -- to move his trial out of Boulder despite arguments from Carter's attorney that the jury pool has been tainted by pretrial publicity.Boulder District Judge Patrick Butler issued the ruling after a three-hour hearing this morning."Based upon the criteria the court is required to follow, this court cannot find that the residents of Boulder County are not able to seat 12 members of a jury panel plus a couple of alternates and give both sides of this case a fair and impartial weighing of the evidence," Butler said.Carter, 36, is facing nine charges -- including four felonies -- and is scheduled to stand trial the week of October 15.In August, Carter's attorney Marc Colin filed a motion asking a judge to move the trial out of Boulder County. Colin argued that pretrial publicity had "deified" the elk that was killed and "vilified" Carter and Brent Curnow, the other former Boulder officer accused of plotting to kill the elk.Colin pointed to numerous marches and rallies held as memorials to the elk, and also brought up comments on news articles and blogs from people who say the officers should be hanged or shot."That's precisely the type of vituperative reaction from jury pool members that justifies the change of venue," Colin said. "There was a candlelight vigil for the elk, a bike ride in which people drove around with masks of the officers and horns on. You can actually call a number and hear a sound that is supposed to be 'Big Boy,' one of the names this elk has been referred to."But District Attorney Stan Garnett said while the Mapleton neighborhood and to some extent the city of Boulder was passionate about the case, he said the county was large enough that the entire jury pool was not prejudiced."There is no question that the defendant is entitled to a fair trial as are the people," Garnett said. "I have no doubt that through careful jury selection processes, we will be able to establish that."Garnett also sa迷你倉價錢d it was impossible in the age of modern media that a town as well educated as Boulder would not read or hear news reports of the trial."The issue is not whether the jury has seen the publicity," Garnett said. "The majority of the reports, the reactions to those reports occurred in the first few months after the incident occurred."According to an arrest affidavit, Carter shot and killed the elk near Mapleton Avenue and Ninth Street while on duty Jan. 1. Curnow -- who had been scheduled to work but called in sick that day -- then arrived in his pickup truck to haul away the carcass.Although Carter told police he shot the elk because he saw it was injured, a necropsy revealed no evidence of a prior injury to the elk, and dispatch records show Carter did not report the shooting, according to court documents.Text-messaging records also showed conversations between Carter and Curnow about killing the elk almost 20 hours before the shooting.Curnow on Tuesday took a plea deal in pleaded guilty to one Class 6 felony charge and pleaded guilty to four misdemeanors. The expo will kick off on Sept 6 in Changchun, capital of Jilin province in Northeast China,which is the permanent home to the international event. It is scheduled to run through Sept 11. Founded in 2005, the annual expo is organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Jilin provincial government. It is the only expo in the world that links all Northeast Asian countries — China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia and Russia. Sergei Tsyplakov, a senior Russian trade delegate in China, said the event serves as an important bridge in Sino-Russian trade. “Russia attaches great importance to the event and regional delegations have also shown strong interest. Source: The Charleston Gazette, W.迷你倉新蒲崗Va.Sept. 05--CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority continues working to raise money and control spending, as it faces continued cuts in federal and state funds that help support West Virginia's public television and public radio networks.Tammy Treadway, chief financial officer of the West Virginia Public Broadcasting Foundation, told a WVEBA board meeting Wednesday West Virginia's public broadcasting facilities had a 7.5 percent budget reduction, or $423,000, for the fiscal year ending June 30.Treadway predicted a similar 7.5 percent reduction for the current state fiscal year, which will come to about $390,000. WVPB has its main operating centers in Charleston, Morgantown and Beckley.The EBA must also finance rebuilding some of the group's towers and transmitters around the state."But while we lost a lot of our government funding, our membership is up," Treadway said. EBA estimated it would get $1.245 million in private donations this year but actually received $1.327 million in donations.Today, WVPB gets about half of its money from state government. By 2020, it will get only one-third of its money from the state.Scott Finn, who became executive director of West Virginia Public Broadcasting in February, is traveling around the state to promote the organization's work."I have already done 12 events and will do another 12. I see a deep amount of love and goodwill across the state," said Finn, who was previously a reporter for the Gazette, a reporter for West Virginia Public Radio, then news director for WUSF-TV, a public television station in Tampa, Fla."We have some challenges, especially from outages. Our towers need repair," Finn said. "We have 27 transmitters throughout the state, mostly on leased land. In Tampa, we served 4 million people with just one tower."Public Broadcasting recently built a new tower in Welch, McDowell County."We spend a lot of money on buying equipment and maintaining towers. A lot were built with federal grant money." We will probably cut five more positions this year. "We are also hiring someone to solicit major gifts and a curriculum specialist to work with schools."We hope to double our major gifts, of $1,000 or more, by 2016," Finn said. "We also work to help motivate children in areas like science, engineering and math. And we work with the state Division of Culture and History."WVPB is also planning a more sophisticated website it hopes will double the news traffic it has today.Ted Armbrecht, an EBA board member, said he is working on an endowment fund that already has $434,000 in it. He obtained a student pilot's license that allowed him to fly solo, but he was not permitted to take passengers. He also bartered and traded for a Cessna 172 airplane, which he flew as often as he could.Longley left work Friday morning for Limington Airport to get his plane ready for a flight to Skowhegan the next day. The plane took off around 1:30 p.m. Friday and started to gain altitude, but the engine sputtered and the plane crashed, according to the York County Sheriff's Office. Longley died in the plane crash. He was the only person aboard the four-seat Cessna."My husband died doing what he loved," said his wife, Bonnie Longley, of Casco."He absolutely loved flying. He was a good pilot. He had no fear. He was very happy to be up there."Longley, a longtime resident of Naples, was remembered by his family and friends this week as a well-respected businessman and dedicated family man, who lived life to the fullest.At age 12, he started working with his father and grandfather to learn masonry and carpentry. He graduated from Lake Region High School in 1973, and then worked as a logger.He worked for several local companies including, Lake Region Lumber, Burnham Brothers and Dragon Cement. He contributed to several notable projects, including the restoration of Naples Causeway Bridge."He always referred to himself as a Naples boy through and through," his wife said.Lo迷你倉價錢gley took over his father's construction business in the early 1990s and started Longley's Caretaking in Casco.He did construction work and later expanded to include excavations. He owned the business with his wife, who does the gardening and landscaping work. He was also an independent trucker for R.J. Grondin and Sons."He loved the work," his wife said. "He loved the people and operating the equipment."Though Longley's work was an important part of his life, nothing topped his love for his wife and their two children.The couple dated in high school and got married days after he graduated in 1973. They raised two children. In June, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. His wife reminisced Tuesday about the life they built together. She said he was an "excellent father" to his daughters, Holly Longley and Dani Longley, both of Naples."He was so much fun with the kids when they were young," she said, recalling the winter he built them a snow palace. "He was a great dad. He took them to the ocean, the mountains and skiing. He was very generous. He had a huge heart. When they had problems, he was always there. If they said, 'Dad, I'm short five dollars.' He would give them ten. Source: The Roanoke Times, Va.迷你倉價錢Aug. 30--GLADE HILL -- Nestled on the side of Webster Road in Glade Hill sits a replica of the TARDIS, a spacecraft/phone booth from the popular British television series, "Doctor Who."The show's lead character is the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space with his companion in the TARDIS, which is modeled after a 1960s British police box.On a recent Sunday evening, nearly 50 people from the Roanoke area took a trip to visit Franklin County's TARDIS."It's legit," said Kristina Smith of Glade Hill . "It's not something you would expect to see in Franklin County."The TARDIS maker is Dante Colie, 44, who greeted the visitors dressed as the Tenth Doctor -- he wore a blue and gray pinstripe suit, Chuck Taylors, and a wavy dark brown wig over his natural blond hair. He's a fairly new fan of the show, and found his favorite Doctor to be Scottish actor David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor. The Twelfth Doctor -- actor Peter Capaldi -- was just named with much fanfare earlier this month. The show also celebrates its 50th anniversary in November.That Sunday evening, Colie told his visitors about the unveiling of his TARDIS, which weighs 650 pounds and cost about $2,500.He and a friend wheeled it out to the yard late one night and the next day, someone called the police to say someone had stolen a phone booth, Colie recounted.The police had started interviewing neighbors when one officer remembered where he'd seen it before -- it was the spaceship from "Doctor Who."Colie recalled, "She [the neighbor] said, well, I don't know about that, but it wasn't there when I went to bed last night."Everyone laughed.Building K.I.T.T.Though it took Colie about a month to build the TARDIS, it was only a side project.His life's work of 18 years is building components to convert Pontiac Firebird Trans Am cars into replicas of the talking car, K.I.T.T., from the 1980s "Knight Rider" television series .He designs custom electronic fiberglass dashboards and bumpers, which he sells to fans all over the world."The 'Knight Rider' community is huge," he said. A complete K.I.T.T. (which stands for Knight Industries Two Thousand) replica car costs $55,000."I melted when I saw that car for the first time," Colie said. He was 12 and living in Burnt Chimney when he first saw the series starring David Hasselhoff. "I mean, the show inspired me."He remembers seeing an ad on the back of a magazine for a Knight Rider replica. "I didn't have any money. I had to make it," he said.He did his best converting his 1982 Pontiac Trans Am into K.I.T.T. by building his first dashboard in ninth grade.He said he struggled in high school and was homeless in his 20s, often crashing on a friend's couch while he worked in the heating and air conditioning field."Every dime I made went back into that car," Colie said. "I spent all summer trying to build fiberglass and all winter on e迷你倉ectronics."The car was finally finished around 1993, he said, and was put on display for three months at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.The work was still just a hobby; Colie had jobs as a salesman for a vacuum cleaner company and later as a prosthetics technician.After getting his first computer in 1998, he became active in the online "Knight Rider" replica message boards and posted a photo of his car.That's when his business started and orders began rolling in for parts."You never know what that moment is meant to be," he said. "It could be a moment to change your life."Now his home -- and office for his company Advanced Designs in Automotive Technology -- stays busy, and not just on K.I.T.T. cars. Inside sits a half-finished R2-D2 from "Star Wars" and a working digital timer he designed, just like the one used in the late-'90s sci-fi TV series "Sliders."Longtime customer Scott Rice calls Colie a perfectionist. "He's just so creative in his ability to do things with his hands," Rice said.He met Colie in 2001 at a car show and told him, "I don't want what these people have. I want better."A couple of years later Rice was winning national awards for his replica car, built with Colie parts. Rice said his K.I.T.T. car is now used by Universal Studios for promotional tours. "For his part, he couldn't have done a better job," Rice said.Helping othersAt one point, Colie and an ex-girlfriend tried to start a Knight Foundation nonprofit to help give people second chances. The organization didn't make it off the ground, but Colie didn't give up on trying to help people."One person can make a difference," he said. "I want to help people out. That's my goal."For several years he's mentored teens, including John Trout, who grew up in the same neighborhood. Trout worked in Colie's shop when the business was first getting off the ground. He said Colie took a risk by going for such a unique and specialized field."He did it. I think it's a testament to being a little bold and following your interests," Trout said. "His interests are only matched by his desire to help other people."Trout has since graduated from college and now lives in Rochester, N.Y. and works in the alternative energy field. Colie joked, "I live through him vicariously."Colie said he might not have gone to college or had children, but he tries to inspire creativity and imagination in anyone he meets, especially those who are trying to figure out what to do with their lives.He says he hopes people see that dreams are obtainable, even if you "fall on your face.""You just have to want it bad enough," he said. 高管特區2011年夏天，迷你倉北京春雨天下軟件有限公司成立，代表中國在線醫療從web端到移動端的開始。談及自己的創業選擇，春雨天下首席執行官張銳坦陳：“大勢所趨，移動互聯網發展機會很好，我判斷很可能是10年以來最好的機會。”中國移動互聯網第三方咨詢機構艾媒咨詢發佈的數據顯示，2012年中國移動醫療市場規模達到18.6億元（人民幣，下同，3.87億新元）。預計到2017年底，這一市場的規模將達到125.3億元。張銳獨到的市場直覺，為春雨的發展贏得了先機。他認為移動醫療的價值是幫助人們管理人生最重要的資產：健康。春雨主打產品是“自查＋問診”的遠程健康咨詢手機應用軟件。自查指的是春雨數據庫為用戶提供健康答案，供用戶參考；問診則是用戶向醫生提問，問題將被實時推送到醫生手機，由醫生在手機上完成回複。此外，用戶可以根據自己對時效性的需求，從免費到50元的價格中，選擇不同的支付費用。張銳形容這是一個智力淘寶，平台上賣的是醫生或者健康工作者的智力。兩年來春雨迅速茁壯成長，目前已經擁有超過1000萬用戶。張銳：我們是合格的醫生創辦春雨天下之前，張銳最為人所知的身份是資深媒體人。他畢業于中國人民大學新聞學院，曾先後在《新聞調查》、《京華時報》、網易新聞中心任職。在移動互聯網行業，張銳是半路出家。主持開發網易新聞客戶端，給了張銳與移動互聯網“親密接觸”的機會。他說，“我在網易做了六年，前三年做內容，後三年做產品，我覺得做產品可實現的空間和價值更高。”對於春雨產品與其他問診型app的差別，張銳稱：“我們是合格的醫生，他們是不負責的醫生。那些app不是試圖在線上解決你的問題，最終目的是要把你引到線下去看病。”他介紹，春雨的醫生團隊有很高的進入門檻，級別要達到主任或副主任醫生以上，具備五年以上的臨床經驗，或是博士以上學歷。春雨產品的定位是“醫院院牆之外的輕型問診”，創新性利用醫生碎片化時間為用戶解答問題。與基於個人電腦端的問診服務不同的是，移動端可自存倉綁定手機號來確保醫生賬戶的真實性，具有更高的安全性，手機消息推送則方便了醫生和用戶的交流，實現了問診的即時性和便捷性。因為中國醫生的執照只在醫院內使用才是合法的，有人質疑遠程醫療App的合法性。張銳笑著否定了這個說法，“中國現在醫療問題的核心是醫療資源分配不均，所以國家鼓勵醫生多點執業。而問診行為和輕問診、咨詢之間最重要的界限是，醫生開不開處方。春雨完全沒有給用戶開處方，所以嚴格上講算不上是一個問診行為。”崇尚“自由”的領導者能把自己的想法最大發揮出來，實現自身價值最大化，對張銳來說是個很大的誘惑。他最讚賞穀歌（Google）精神，認為互聯網行業和傳統行業最不同的精神特質就是自由和免費，代表了新的生產力方向。張銳期望春雨像穀歌一樣，開發能為人類創造價值的工具，而不是單純為盈利而存在。9月底即將上線的“希波克拉底”計劃就是張銳實現自己豪情的一個嘗試。據他介紹，“希波克拉底”計劃是基於春雨平台上已有的大量真實數據，把對用戶有價值的東西，通過數據分析提煉出來，使用戶能夠簡單調用。這個數據庫還是完全免費的張銳說：“邊際成本為零的東西都應該免費。只要我們做的足夠好，有人願意用，我們就完全免費的提供。”盈利是“接下來要做的事情”談到春雨現存的阻礙，張銳說了兩個字：“時間”。“我們在做一個沒有人做過的事情，面對的是一個放量的市場，不是一個存量的市場。公司未來要實現財務順利運轉，要能等到用戶健康和付費習慣養成的那一天。公司的財務要能夠支撐到春暖花開的一天。這就是一個很現實的問題。”張銳說：“春雨到現在也沒盈利，這是我們接下來要做的事情。”未來春雨嘗試贏利模式的第一步是會員制度，每個月用戶交會員費後可以不限次數提問。此外，春雨還計劃與小型企業合作，推行企業會員制度。春雨的定位也將擴大，從“醫生智力平台”轉變為“泛健康人士智力平台”，引入健身教練、心理師、營養師等泛健康工作者，開設自己的工作室，春雨提供技術、商業平台的支持。（中新社專稿）迷你倉新蒲崗

Source: Pittsburgh Post-GazetteAug.迷你倉新蒲崗 30--Two men were held for trial today on charges that they stormed a "party bus" that stopped in Sheraden this spring and fatally shot a man who got off.James Lawrence, 21, of East Hills, and Michael Lyons, 22, of Homewood, face charges of homicide, conspiracy and a gun violation in the March 30 shooting death of Steven Lee, 21, of McKees Rocks.Pittsburgh homicide detectives wrote in a criminal complaint that Clarrissa Clark, 19, Summer Kerley, 29, both of Sheraden, and Samantha Powe, 30, of Garfield, boarded the bus in the South Side and began arguing with people on board.While they were on the bus, Ms. Powe called someone and said, "You need to come over and smoke these people," according to the complaint."These people" were Mr. Lee and his sister, according to the complaint.Ms. Clark was also on the phone and asked the driver to stop in Sheraden, at which point Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Lyons and a third man arrived, police have said.Police said Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Lyons got on the bus, where Mr. Lawrence pointed a gun at Mr. Lee's sis迷你倉出租er and escorted her off.
