Source: Tulsa World, Okla.迷你倉最平Oct. 18--Federal workers in northeast Oklahoma and throughout the nation went back to work Thursday, but it could be awhile before all facilities and services affected by the 16-day partial government shutdown are fully functional again. The Army Corps of Engineers, which has perhaps the largest federal presence in Tulsa, recalled all of its furloughed employees, but spokesman Ross Adkins said it might be several days before all facilities on the Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas lakes administered by the Corps' Tulsa Region office can be made ready for use."I know the lake managers want to get them up and running ASAP," Adkins said in an email. "With over 500 rec sites on 38 lakes, it will take a little time."Adkins said some facilities that are normally closed over the winter might not reopen until spring.Col. Max Moss of the Oklahoma National Guard said a decision about when to resume weekend drills will be made next week. He said he expects that drills missed because of the partial shutdown will be rescheduled.Furloughs directly affected thousands of Oklahoma federal employees and slowed or halted federal services depended upon by many thousands more. Possibly greater, if less obvious, was the partial shutdown's effect on business and individual confidence in the government and the economy.Gov. Mary Fallin, who was in Tulsa on Thursday morning to kick off her re-election campaign, said the lack of a long-term resolution to federal budget-related di迷你倉putes continues to be a problem."We have seen the effects of the shutdown in Oklahoma," she said. "When you create uncertainty in Washington, D.C., you create uncertainty for the business community."It is concerning what Washington is doing ... on the debt-ceiling limit," Fallin said. "Instability in our federal government does affect the states. We've seen that in (lower) sales-tax collections last month."The agreement reached Wednesday keeps the government fully funded only until Jan. 15. Reprieve from the debt limit lasts only until Feb. 7.As chairwoman of the National Governors Association, Fallin has a somewhat less partisan perspective on what has become a highly partisan era."It is not helpful to our state; it's not helpful to any state," she said. "All of our governors are concerned about what's going on in Washington."Randy Krehbiel 918-581-8365randy.krehbiel@tulsaworld.comOklahoma delegationU.S. Sen. Tom Coburn and Reps.
