Source: Ventura County Star, Calif.存倉Aug. 01--Several doings this week in and around the Peacock Network, NBC:It's becoming very clear that soccer will be a big part of NBC Sports Network's offerings. The first three months of the schedule for the English Premier League was released this week with NBCSN slated to show 57 games, NBC 10 and CNBC two. The first game is the Aug. 17 Liverpool-Stoke matchup. There will be at least five games televised each week in the first three months of the season. In addition, 27 matches during that time will be shown in Spanish on the Telemundo and mun2 networks. All EPL games will also be available on TV and online through the Premier League Extra Time package that will be similar to baseball's Extra Innings service. However, viewers must be subscribed to a participating distributor. So far, according to Multichannel.com, DirecTV, Dish Network and AT&T U-Verse have signed up (Verizon FiOS has signed up for the online package); Time Warner Cable has not. This is part of the NBC Sports Group's new three-year, $250 million contract to show EPL games. Previously, the rights were held by Fox Sports Media Group with some games sublicensed to ESPN.The NFL preseason gets under way this weekend and NBC has first crack at it. The Hall of Fame Game is at 5 p.m. Sunday from Canton, Ohio, with the Oxnard-trained Dallas Cowboys playing the Miami Dolphins. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will call the game with Michele Tafoya on the sidelines.Incidentally, on Friday night Michaels will be given the Pete Rozelle Radio & Television Award, a yearly honor bestowed in Canton for "long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football." Michaels has been the play-by-play voice of the NFL's leading weekly prime-time game -- "Sunday Night Football" on NBC and "Monday Night Football" on ABC -- since 1986.What took so long? The player induction ceremony occurs at 4 p.m. Saturday and will be televised by ESPN2 and NFL Network. The inductees a自存倉e Larry Allen, Cris Carter, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden, Bill Parcells, Dave Robinson and Warren Sapp.More on Michaels: He was named to host NBC Sports Network's daytime coverage and NBC's weekend coverage at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. It's Michaels' third straight Olympic assignment, following Vancouver and London. In other Sochi Olympics news, NBC announced retired short-track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno will be an Olympic analyst on the sport for the network. Ohno is the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympic athlete with eight medals, two gold. Finally, NBC has won out over ESPN in the Nancy Kerrigan sweepstakes. Last week, ESPN had announced one of its upcoming "30 for 30" films would be "Tonya and Nancy," a look back at the bizarre knee-clubbing of Kerrigan before the 1994 Winter Olympics that was arranged by fellow U.S. figure skating team member Tonya Harding. The film's producers said they were still hoping to get Kerrigan to participate, but that they were prepared to proceed without her. That is what they will have to do because NBC, which is planning its own documentary that will air during the Sochi Games, announced this week it has landed an exclusive interview with Kerrigan by Mary Carillo, who will also interview Harding.Kerrigan, who won medals in two Olympics, is married with three children and was inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2004. Harding is married with one child and has taken part in a number of sports and entertainment reality shows over the past 20 years."This will be a fascinating look back on the 20th anniversary of one of the most dramatic episodes in Winter Olympic history and how it has affected the lives of these two women," NBC Olympics executive producer Jim Bell said in a statement. "Mary Carillo is the perfect reporter to tell their stories."Copyright: ___ (c)2013 Ventura County Star (Camarillo, Calif.)
